Creative Sign Painting

In addition to murals and hand painted furniture, I’ve started getting a lot of requests for creative, custom designed, hand painted signs.

I am really enjoying the new challenge . They are sort of like mini murals with the added difficulty of hand lettering. I can see improvement in my technique with each new sign.

It’s important to come up with a design that “fits” the client.

This starts with the appropriate material for the sign.

I give quite a bit of consideration to the background, which is important, but shouldn’t over power the lettering.

Here is where some time working on layout is crucial.

And, as you can see, the type choice can be critical.

On some occasions, I’ve been commissioned to provide just the pounce pattern.

Sort of a coloring book for the DIYer.

All of this prep work helps to assure a successful finished product.
